Faroe Islands - all in one - private tour
Faroe Island - all in one
You will be picked up at your hotel or if you are on a cruise ship at the boat to be driven to one of the biggest attractions in Northern Streymoy "Fossá" located between Hvalvík and Haldarsvík - the highest waterfall in the Faroe Islands - 140 meters.
The tour continues to the the northernmost village in Streymoy: the picturesque village Tjørnuvík.
The village faces almost north to the open sea and affords one of the best views of the twin sea stacks, Risin (75m) and Kellingin (73m), remnants, it is told, of an unusual attempt to tow the Faroe Islands to Iceland by an Icelandic giant and his troll wife. Struck by the beauty of the islands, they laid a rope around Eiðiskollur, the north end of Eysturoy, but quarrelled for so long that they were caught by the rising sun and transformed into cliffs.
We will drive to Eiði and further to the scenic village Gjógv with its fantastic nature harbour with its sea-filled gorge. Eat lunch at Guesthouse Gjáargarður in Gjógv.
After lunch you will visit the old cultural centre of the North Atlantic "Kirkjubøur", where you will see the oldest wooden house in Europe "Roykstovan" still in use for the 17th generation. See the imposing ruin of Saint Magnus Cathedral and the oldest church in the Faroe Islands, St. Olavs church erected in the year 1111.
At the end of the tour you will have a short sightseeing in one of the smallest capitals in the world - Tórshavn. You will visit the World oldest parliament Tinganes, take a walk in the old part of town and feel the atmosphere as placed in the Middle Ages but still alive with hens and children and all the buzz of ordinary life.
